2. Nobody gives them the alternatives
The workers hear that they have to have oil for jobs. They tell their politicians they have to have oil for jobs. Their politicians hear they have to have oil for jobs. They tell the progressive opposition they have to have oil for jobs. They tell their constituents to yell at their progressive opposition. The constituents yell at the progressive opposition... and tell their politicians they have to have oil for jobs.

And around and around it goes.

Somebody has got to intervene at the very local level and organize an alternative green economy movement. On every level where there is conflict between progressive and conservative Dems, this has got to be done.

4. IMO, we have to NATIONALIZE oil industry -- otherwise impossible to get alternative energy ...
or action on Global Warming -- which they've held back with their lies and

control of government for 60 years now!

Also, we have the further complication that you can't fight wars without oil --

so becomes a national security issue and puts makes BP and Pentagon -- and Obama --

partners in preserving "national security" -- !!!

It's all a crock -- and right wing propaganda -- but until everyone gets it, its rather

a hopeless situation --

i.e., right wing violence, corporate-fascism will win --

10. No, we don't and that doesn't help
That word just shuts down 90% of the country. Sometimes I think the people who say it are helping create adverse controversy against the left.

There's a 300+ wind farm being built in eastern Oregon. It will deliver as much power as a nuclear plant. No nationalization was needed to do that.

We could, however, point out that if we just stopped fighting wars, we'd save enough oil to not need to fight the oil wars in the first place. Cut the military in half, return to the "good old days" of 39 cent a gallon gas.

Of course, that wouldn't solve the problem of global warming, so you still have to figure out how to get people off of fossil fuels to do that.

8. And Hayward's response?
I tuned it in late and didn't hear, but I'd really like to know how it squares with Joe Barton's bombastic comments.

9. Haywars said it was not a shakedown and it was not a slush fund
But Barton just walked back his bullshit with a non-apology apology for the apology.
