Louisiana, Red to Blue?
Yesterday a BP executive called the residents of Louisiana "small people".

Yes, English is not his first language.

Yes, he did not intentionally insult anybody.

But Louisiana residents are already under a lot of pressure and already have built up frustrations. Louisiana residents are already pissed as hell at BP.

And today, multiple Republicans called the fund Barack Obama negotiated to speed up the compensation process for those same Louisiana residents a "Chicago Shakedown".

There's a perfect political storm brewing in Louisiana.

Just saying...

If Vitter is smart, he publicly and vociferously repudiates and excoriates Joe Barton before 3:00 PM EDT today.

1. Vitter could praise Barton for that crap and still get re-elected. He got saved by God after
screwing around with prostitutes, so he is OK.

2. Dirty Diaper Dave thinks he's really something.
I'll bet he stands with Barton. No doubt Vitter has received lots of campaign donations from the oil industry.

Just checked. Yep, almost $400,000 from oil and gas. Can you say corrupt? http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/summary.php?cid=N00009659&cycle=2010 (Open Secrets is having extreme traffic, according to the site. Lots of people checking for corrupt politicians today, I guess. Bad for the GOP!)

5. Louisianans love the oil and chemical industry.
they affectionately call the area between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Cancer Alley, because of the oil and chemical companies set up along the way. Yep. With affection.

7. Yeah, I lived in Lafayette Louisiana for a couple of years and worked in the oil biz
I don't see anything that will make Louisiana fall out of love with oil and gas. IT is a bad co-dependent relationship writ large. Sure, the oil industry may be an abusive boyfriend who beasts "Louise" but he'll buy her somehting nice to make up for it every now and than, and then tell her what other people say behind her back.
