Blind Dog Has Seeing Eye Dog
Ellie, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy, is almost completely blind. Her owner is trying to find the money necessary for eye surgery. In the meantime, Leo, a German Shepherd, has taken up the role of seeing eye dog for Ellie.

1. I love these stories...
Edited on Wed Jun-16-10 11:49 AM by hlthe2b
Especially the cross species affections. My current fav is the orangutan and the hound dog (video at National Geo and HuffPo)
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/03/orangutan-and-dog-become_n_599566.html ... That one makes me smile even when I try not to.

Ahhh, if we could all emulate a bit more of what makes these animals so special....

4. Dog's best friend...a big sweet doggie.
“I take them for walks in the park and Leo guides Ellie around. He is so protective and herds the more boisterous dogs away from her,” Julie says.

Gotta love it!

5. A friend once had a cat who was blind
she herself is blind. She has rescued kitties by listening for their mews!

She named the blind kitty "Stevie the Wonder Cat". :-)

problems with King Charles dogs, including my in-laws' sweetheart Lolly, who died way too young. So many bad breeders.

BTW...Lolly was purchased from a "top" breeder as my in-laws are very affluent.

15. Donna's one-eyed blind toy poodle had Hank
one of our rescues. Every time she wanted to go outside or get food and water, he would nudge her along through the dog door to outside and go with her and help her find her way back inside.
