Today's slick picture: Now the monster is ready to bite Florida

Oil from the Deepwater Horizon rig lingered near the Mississippi Delta on June 10, 2010. The MODIS on NASA’s Aqua satellite captured this image the same day. The oil slick is pale gray, and the most conspicuous portion of the oil slick in this image appears near the Deepwater Horizon rig. A smaller, though still sizable, extension of the slick appears northeast of the rig. Clouds somewhat obscure the Mississippi Delta, northwest of the rig.

In photo-like satellite images, sunlight reflecting off the ocean surface and into the satellite sensor makes the oil slick easier to see. Oil smoothes the surface of the water, making it a better mirror of sunlight than the surrounding water. As a result, the oil appears lighter than oil-free surface waters.

1. If what I see in the pics are booms ...

Why is it that Crist can have booms put out on his shoreline and Jindal can't?

I suspect Jindal would rather have reason to piss and moan about the damage
that he can later on blame on Obama. LIHOP Jindal style.

4. Alright, thanks.

It was the long thin line of the same size the entire length that made me think otherwise.

3. I got this in a email this morn ..
"A gray, algae-like substance" is washing ashore at Marco Island

Could it be dead algae from spill and toxins?

http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index2.php

Florida

A gray, algae-like substance was washing ashore at a Marco Island beach this afternoon. Jeff Kutzke, a battalion with the Marco Island Fire Department, said Nancy Richie, the city’s environmental specialist, has been notified of the event. “We found it during our normal beach patrols and we’ve asked her to take a look at it,” Kutzke said. Kutzke said he was not aware whether any samples had been taken of the odorless material. Patty and Eddie Webb of Marco arrived at South Beach at about 1:30. Eddie Webb said he encountered the material when he entered the water. “It’s some kind of algae because it’s fibrous in nature” Eddie Webb said. As the Webbs lounged on the beach at about 5 p.m., children and adults frolicked in the water, undeterred by the unusual material, which rolled into the shore in sparse patches.

5. I fear some of the most beautiful beaches in the world are history.

Fort DeSoto used to be my most favorite place for R&R.

Those greedy finger pointing bastards.
