Hotel workers at Disneyland Hotel, the Grand Californian, and Paradise Pier declared a one-day strike Friday to show their support for shop steward MaryAnn Hegner who was recently fired after 23 years. The company says the firing was due to Hegner using profanity on the job, but she denies the charge and calls it retaliation for being a union representative. The workers have been without a contract for over two years. In August, the National Labor Relations Board will hear charges of unfair labor practices filed against the resort by the union.
