Are you generally happy about things?
Are you generally happy about things?

Are you happy about the state of our involvement in Afghanistan? Are you happy about the progress we're making toward withdrawal?

Are you happy about the status of the War In Iraq©™ and our progress toward withdrawal there?

Are you happy about the closing of Guantanamo? Are you happy about the trials we've granted the men still being held there?

Are you happy about the way we've helped "the little guy" through this recession (depression?)? How we've helped forestall foreclosures? How we've protected the population from future predatory banking practices?

Are you happy about the course of health care reform? Are you happy with how the initial bill is being fixed in advance of our possibly losing one house of congress come the Fall?

Are you happy about the progress we're making for our gay brothers and sisters?

Are you happy about the course we've taken in educating our young people? In the way we're supporting professional educators?

Are you happy with the level of respect shown to unions? The cooperation between labor and the government?

Are you happy with the progress we're making with respect to signing on to the Kyoto Treaty?

Are you generally happy with where we are and where we seem to be going?

The young man can eat!

But to me the best time is after he goes to bed and the dog jumps up and sleeps
beside him ..... they both look content w/ the world.

Size 13 shoes are relatively easy to find. Anything larger than that, not so much. (finding socks is even harder) :evilfrown:

6. Yep
Pretty much very happy with it all. It's going far better than I expected when I cast my vote on November 4, 2008.

Hell, I expected less than a quarter of what's been accomplished to have been accomplished by now.

So yeah, I'm happy.

10. Yeah, there's some severe instant gratification syndrome at work around here.
People forget, it took eight years for Bush to fuck things up this bad.

Hell, the progress Obama has made to this point makes him three times a better president that Roosevelt, which means under Black Management Syndrome, he can be considered in the same league as Bush.

11. I'm happy with my life, and frustrated with politics and corporate (and personal) greed in general.
But am I a happy person? Hell, yes, but I also realize I am very fortunate, and take nothing for granted.

I know what you are getting at - no existing human being could have stepped into Bush's big turd and do things any better or quicker in this climate.

I am absolutely happy with my vote for Obama, and for Obama the human being. I didn't have overly high expectations for what he could accomplish as president.

12. Yeah, I am happy
I am not thrilled but am generally happy with the state of things considering what we have gone through the last few years. I am a pragmatist when it comes to dealing with strongly embedded political corruption. Obama inherited a government that doesn't work. He is making headway but the problems are so systemic it is going to take a long time for major breakthroughs.

I'm feeling pretty negative; my family had a recent very painful object lesson in how disposable some American lives are. Yes, we recognize our responsibility in the matter, but that does not change the fact that for whatever our own efforts were worth, they were mitigated not only by the young man's own vulnerabilities, but also by what is lacking in the whole system in which the struggle ran its course, specifically: appropriate and complete education, universal health care, and good jobs. We needed more time and more alternatives; there were never anywhere near enough of the latter, so there turned out to be not enough of the former.

If you have trouble, you're on your own in this country, unless you subscribe to somekind of religion and even then, though their model is ostensibly a guy who gave it all for free, there's a price and a limit in what you can expect from those who say they care.

And that's the truth about America and I guess I wouldn't even mind that so much if the price weren't so disgustingly high and the limit so fucking god-DAMNED low.

been a lucky soul and have little to bellyache about.

Alexander could barely hold Bactria. I'm not sure the modern U.S. military operations are an improvement over his instincts and his well-trained army's skills.

No objective view on the Iraq conflict, since I bitterly opposed it from the git-go. Donald Rumsfeld is not the only one who deserves blame but his name keeps coming up in my mind as monstrously enmeshed.

We could certainly use more little guy assistance and far fewer big bank control freaks.

Entire nations have no problems with gay marriage or lesbians and gay men serving in the military. Jesus god, even the Supreme Court seemed to think that same-sex liaisons are hunky-dory. It would be nice if some of the deep-red communities could get with the program.

Farming and teaching runs in my family tree like true rivers. I think we need to eat locally and educate globally. Standardized tests blow.

There is sufficient motivation out there. All week we had clear choices between what Carly Fiorina said about Barbara Boxer's hair style on one hand and on the other, windows of opportunity (and earnest cause) to join environmental groups like the Cousteau Society (!) and other organizations to assert the dignity of the living earth against the corporate shitheads who would foul the collective nest.

Some of us who feel they have been lucky compared to others' hardship still feel the strong pulse of grassroot involvement. A lot of good things can come of it.

28. Hmmm...
I am generally happy that I have a job.

I am generally happy that I have food on the table.

I am generally happy that I have a roof over my head.

I am generally happy that I have transportation.

I am generally happy that I have electricity and air conditioning!

I am generally happy that my water comes from a tap.

I am generally happy that I can still step outside and enjoy the air.

I am generally happy that I have the internet.

I am generally happy that I have my family.

Yeah, I'd say that I am "generally" happy.

31. I'm happy
I'm happy that I'm 56 years old with no children that will have to fix all these messes and live in a totalitarian America.

I'm happy that I can accept the possibility of death to fight the fascism that has permeated our country. I still have goals and aspirations, but I'd be fine dying to preserve and restore the precious legacy of our Founding Fathers.
