Let's help Alvin Greene plot a winning path to victory in November!
He's obviously mastered that "under-the-radar" thingy, so maybe a quiet campaign-by-proxy with very few appearances by the candidate is our best bet. So the campaign needs lots of grassroots help spreading talking points. And let's keep the press guessing with lots of rumors about where Alvin is, and lots of unconfirmed sightings across the state

Next, remember that our object is to send Jimmy "The Confederate" DeMint into a flaming tailspin. This campaign isn't really about Alvin; it's about those been-there-too-long and won't-do-nothin-fer-you Washington insiders like Jimmy. Grapevine chatter that Alvin is negotiating a Tea Party endorsement will help; when they deny it, we need angry LTTEs denouncing their racism

What we say in cafes and bars and grocery check-out lines is especially important! For example, how are you going to reply if somebody says, I couldn't vote for him cuz he's unemployed and looks at porn on the internet? I'll tell you what you're gonna say: you're gonna say, Sweetpea, half this town is unemployed and looks at porn on the internet! See? Play up the theme, "Alvin's just an ordinary guy, and we need more ordinary guys in Congress cuz the fancy-pants jerks there now are stealing us blind." The Republicans have been running campaigns like that for years, so turn-about is fair play

Over to you, fellow DUers ...

2. You can vote for him anyway
that is the way republicans play. Anything is legal in an election.

5. After all, Tuesday cable media claimed an anti-incumbent rage was sweeping the country.
Time it reached S.C. Those poor, poor people have put up with everything. It's time for unbelievable change!

4. A Couple Thoughts...
First thing that came to mind when I read this story in TPM was that he was a stalking horse for one of the various fundraising scam organizations out there. These are companies that will go out and raise millions for a candidate and then keep most of the money for themselves as "campaign expenses". It's barely legal but seems to be quite a thriving industry. Most times I read of rushpublicans being bilked but I'm sure these "pros" have a pitch to go after rich Democrats as well. This could explain where he got the filing fee money and the lawyer. He didn't have to do a thing, didn't need a campaign office...just his name on a ballot and the phone banks would get busy. He wasn't supposed to win, just to make the money while the sun shone.

This leads to the next problem and that is of the South Carolina Democratic Party. Greene won 59% of the vote...that's not sneaking by, that's blowing away their endorsed candidate. What's the story here? This sounds like a party that is disconnected from its base...both unable to communicate their preference or to organize votes. And now they have a boat anchor that could pull the entire party down in November.

Last thought is about how this dude was able to creep under the media radar. Didn't voters know this guy was a convicted felon? Were there any TV or newspaper reports about it? You'd think a well done investigative piece would have had an effect in this race...again the 59% spins my head. I'm seeing a pattern...be it the Lt. Gov. candidate here in Illinois who was a wife beater and the stories didn't start flowing until after he won the primary or Paulbot Jr. who created an instant shitstorm once the light was turned on him. The downscaling of local news departments are having a real bite as so much of the news are headlines and gossip rather than reporting.

7. Darlin, where are your manners? Well-bred folk wait until someone is actually convicted of a felony
before calling them "a convicted felon." Now I know your momma taught you better than that

8. Our Corporate Media is anything but Well-Bred...
A conviction in the corporate media is worse than a real indictiment...our punits love to play judge and jury. That is except if your last name is Cheney.

Went back and checked the article and I stand corrected...he's an ALLEGED felon. And accordingly, he's innocent until proven guilty, but that's not how the media plays it.

Cheers...
