Oh shit. Joe Trippi is joining the campaign of my favorite candidate for Governor
Doug Racine is a remarkably good guy and a solid progressive. He supports single payer health care, same sex marriage and is anti-war. (not that these positions are any different than the other 4 dems running for governor here in VT).

But Trippi? Not a good idea.

ENNINGTON - Joe Trippi, the man who briefly guided former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean to front-runner status in the 2004 presidential election, has joined the gubernatorial campaign of Sen. Doug Racine as a strategist and consultant.

Racine, a Democrat from Chittenden County, appears to be gaining momentum in the five-way race for the Democratic nomination. He recently won the endorsements of the Vermont chapters of the National Education Association and the AFL-CIO.

Racine faces Sens. Peter Shumlin and Susan Bartlett, former Sen. Matt Dunne and Secretary of State Deborah Markowitz in an Aug. 24 primary. Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie is the only declared Republican candidate and is not expected to face a primary challenger.

Trippi has worked with dozens of successful Senate, congressional, gubernatorial and mayoral races around the country, and is credited for his innovative and groundbreaking use of the Internet for campaigns. He pioneered the use of online technology during the Dean campaign.
