Bullets Shatter Glass at BP Gas Station + Vandalizing BP in NYC
i

8:44 PM CDT, June 9, 2010

(Southaven, MS) -- Windows at the BP Gas Station on Highway 51 at Custer Drive were shot out overnight. Folks who work at the store believe the suspects were expressing anger over BP and how it's handling the oil spill.

"I believe that would be the reason," said Alex Saleh. "We don't have any enemies." He said nothing was taken from the store after the windows were destroyed.

Incidents of anger spilling over at locally owned BP gas stations have been reported in several areas. In New York City several BP signs have been vandalized. Owners there believe vandals are filling balloons with dirt then throwing them at the signs.

2. I understand the sentiment, but this is really misguided
Gas stations are a franchise, like any other. When you bust them up, you're not really doing a damn thing to the parent company; the owners of that station are locals, and the cost comes out of their hides, not corporate.

The people shooting and bricking need to have their asses handed to them .As for the mud.. .Well, okay, I'll say "boo freaking hoo" to that.

3. Yeah like the individual owner operators of stations and minimum wage clerks
have a whole lot of control over what is happening in the Gulf.

4. Aren't most gas stations franchises? So this kind of thing doesn't touch BP,
it just hurts some local businessperson who's probably already on the ropes. Lame...

(Of course, it would be wrong if they were BP-owned, as well.)

5. Some BP stations are changing their signs to ARCO, which is a less well known BP brand nt

6. For what it's worth, I'm for a methodological approach to possible
prosecution through the legal system as opposed to firing guns through gas station windows.

Obviously there seem to be a couple of motorists across the country who disagree.

7. Fucking idiots.
Bullets. Really? Are you angry shitwits really ready to end a life (because you don't know who is in that store when you open fire) over this?

Vandals are one thing. Bullets are another.

9. I have to hope it just ends.
BP has already killed so many animals, and will probably keep killing them for years to come as a result of this. They will also be the cause of ruined lives for people. We should not take out our anger on the clerk, the stationworker behind the desk. They didn't do this. Channel the anger towards those that deserve it. Not the feet on the ground, trying to make a living through a franchise. They are us. They are not, nor will they ever be billionaires. Hit the money. Hit the money.

10. So many being impacted don't have an idea of who the money is and how to aim their frustration
.. though I think they are learning fast.

11. I agree. And it is up to us to educate them.
If they don't know, we need to tell them.

12. Wrong on about every level one wishes to examine - vigilante violence is never the answer.
Holding BP legally & financially accountable under & within the Rule of Law is.

Please folks (whoever is responsible for these criminal acts), think, don't react! That's how innocents often get hurt, and does nothing to advance justice.

13. This could always be a Parlock operation
BP is so desperate for sympathy right now, you think they might sabotage one of their own stations to get a little positive press?

Does the Pope molest bear cubs in the woods?
