Republican candidates campaigning without mention of their party!
A legislative candidate appeared at my door this past week, handed me a business card with name, "candidate for state legislature" and a contact number/website on it. No party mentioned at all. No symbol, nothing. I said "You must be a Republican -- you didn't put down party affiliation!" I then proceeded to tell him that he should be embarrassed to be a Republican, that he needed to speak out against the hijacking of his party: Tea Partiers, right wing-nuts, and the fundamentalist crazies have taken over the party and much of conservative dialog in this country. So much so that candidates can't even proudly or legitimately say "I'm a Republican." He said "thanks" and left.

1. I noted the same thing here in Arizona.
There are TONS of Republicans running for Governor - they all have signs everywhere, but very few identify themselves as Republican. I think that's really strange, especially in a Red State like Arizona.

2. DLCers and Blue Dogs (Some of them) do the same thing. You
would never know they are Democrats and many beat up
on Democrats in DC as badly as Republicans.

3. They've Been Doing That Around Here For Several Years...
Some still will use red signs...the only tip off, but many rushpublicans in my area stopped using "republican" on their signs once boooshie's popularity hit the skids follow the '04 elections.

Polls continue to show the GOOP brand name is about as popular as dog shit (appologies to dogs and shit)...especially in blue states, so better to slip under the radar than to have to stand up and defend the indefensible.

Add the teabaggers to this fun...many who will claim to be "conservative" but not rushpublican.
