Senator Lincoln, just because she has Senator in front of her name...
will be able to raise more money than Holter ever could...

Hear me out. An incumbent Senator has a lot of pull even if she is down in the polls. A sitting Lt. Gov of a backwater place would have to depend on the Unions and other left leaning PAC's for funding.

The money that was targeted to unseat Lincoln can now be used in say Nevada to help Harry Reid or up to Missouri. Lincoln will be able to raise her own money and has a chance to win.

I don't like her politics but in the long run, having her as the standard bearer in Arkansas might work out better than we could hope.

Trust me, Halter would not have been able to raise the money needed. His polling numbers were within the margin of error with Lincoln.

The conventional wisdom would say this seat is gone. The only person who can raise money in that situation is a sitting Senator who still has a vote...

1. Apparently Arkansans are very aware of seniority.
Picking Halter puts them farther back in line for everything.

I heard this on NPR.

2. She won't get any money from me
I was planning on donating to Halter for the Fall election.

Now I will be sending that money to Joe Sestak.

3. Halter would have had a much better chance at defeating Boozman
Boozman is a career incumbent congressman, while Halter is a fresh face. The primary and the run-off demonstrated that Halter was a netroots money magnet, too.

4. There is no proof that he would do better than Lincoln...
Now all that netroot money can go to help candidates in places where they have a better chance to make a difference.

6. money doesn't always win elections
the excitement generated by a Halter candidacy I think would have made up for his lack of money, however I don't think the Dems stood a very good chance either way. Nate Silver gives Arkansas a 92% chance of flipping.

7. Given that she has complained about out of state money, I will heed her advice.

No money for her. I have a governor to support and a few progressive candidates I want to help. Lincoln, not so much.

8. US Chamber of Commerce will help Lincoln. (Business)
Funny how it is only the Unions who get mentioned.

9. Well, the Unions made a point and personalized this election...
That is a big difference.

10. Lincoln is done, and I don't care
Arkansans have a choice between a Republican and a Republican lite. I don't care which of them wins.

Senator Lincoln voted against the public option and votes against labor unions, which need to be revitalized if the American middle class is ever to become sizable enough to sustain the American economy again. She is no friend of working Americans.

This seat is lost, but it was never ours.

13. There won't be a Republican majority in January
The GOP is already losing favor with the voters, especially the extreme right wing of the party that has dominated much of the news cycle.

However, there will be a Republican senator from Arkansas. The only question is whether it will be a new one or the one they have now.

14. Let's hope you are right...
But if I lived in Arkansas and voted for Halter I would damn sure make it to the polls in November to vote for Lincoln just in case...

15. Ummmm......
I spend enough time in Arkansas to claim residency there, was born and raised there, have family and extended family there, and can document connections in the state that extend back to the early 1800s.

Only 14 of the state's 75 counties have a population of over 50,000. The population of the entire state is less than 3 million. Eleven counties have a population of less than 10,000 people. An additional 27 counties have a population of less than 20,000 people. An additional 15 counties have a population of less than 30,000 people. Most of these smaller counties have extremely high poverty rates - rates that sometimes exceed those of the poorest Appalachian areas. I can't help but note that nobody is complaining about the difficulty some of these folks had voting in the limited number of polling places.

It is a conservative state. Blanche likely would not have been much of a target for a Dem challenger in the primary had it not been for the fucking carpetbaggers (of both Puke and Dem varieties) who began runing non-stop ads about a year or so ago urging voters to contact her regarding health care reform.

I hope Blanche beats John Boozman come November. He is a respected opthamologist with a long established, well respected, large regional practice - who has become a popular politician in his little corner of the state.

If Blanche goes down in defeat and if that Senate seat goes to the Pukes then I will blame the fucking carpetbaggers. Who the hell do they think they are to substitute their agenda and their priorities for that of the people of Arkansas?
