If you were a Democrat who had been trusted by leaders in the Democratic
Party and had appeared frequently on TV as a pundit representing Democrats, would you accept an invitation and go to Rush Limbaugh's wedding?

And if you did accept and go, would you still claim publicly to be a Democrat?

I answer "No" to both questions.

I know this is a trivial matter, but to claim to be a Democrat, you have to do more than just talk folksy.

2. I gave up on any pretense of Snake Carville being a Democrat
the first time he shit all over Howard Dean in 2003.

3. I would not, but then, I have prnciples that I would never BE ABLE
to compromise (I can't even do that in everyday life), so I could never be a "prominent" Democrat.

5. If Rush and I had been friends for 30-40 years...
...and maintained that friendship despite countless political debates over coffee and cigars, I'd most likely go.

Then again, if that were the case, I doubt that his talk radio program would as abrasive and nonsensical if he had me around as a sounding board. Relationships can do wonders for altering one's own point of view.

And yes, I remember that Rush has a bit of a mercenary streak, but I'm just sayin'.

6. If a friend of my wife's got married, I'd go...
no matter who that person is. Now you can argue about how I could be married to someone who'd have such a person as a friend, and that's a legit point, but I don't see the issue with this specifically.

7. It's his job
Really, for both of them, it's just their job. The degree to which they believe the ideas the advocate is relatively unknown. Think of them as doing a job similar to a speach writer. It's all a game to them.
