On CSPAN, he makes it sounds as though putting a global warming study into the intelligence bill will be the end of the world. And then, no joke, he seriously says, "We'll be going back to-- well, just look at what happened in the mid-1990s."

Seems like the GOOPers have admitted to themselves that the boooosh regime is a total failure. So instead of taking responsibility for electing and supporting this fuck-up, as usual, they create a new "reality" to justify their arrogance and ignorance.

To listen to a wingnut, the 90's was awful. Clinton had ruined the economy, let Al Queda run roughshod everywhere, couldn't keep his zipper shut, gutted the military, tracked mud across the White House carpets, spoke with his mouth full and is the source of every trouble ever created by man.

They've transformed the Clenis to cover their own asses...thus that when there's yet another scandal or bad news, they just pretend how it was all the fault of the Clenis...things that happen 10 or 15 years ago now that somehow negate all the ineptness and corruption of the booosh regime.

It's all the Repugnicans have left. They can't run on the boooosh "legacy", so they're trying to re-invent the Clenis at their only hope.

Clinton, or at least under his administration, actually achieved their stated and unstated goals that they have been going on and on about for years

End of Welfare as we know it
"Balanced" budget
Huge technological increases in the military
the end of the family farmer
the establishment of the corporate control of the news (the New Truth)
etc.

and what did they do to thank him? The same thing they have done to everyone outside the inner circle once they are done with them (Tenet, Judith Miller) they put him on the spit.

They impeached him where old school pols would have used that dirt to get whatever they wanted but then again they had got everything they wanted so they just used it to paint non-Republicans as immoral heathens.
