Rasmussen Survey-- 49% Say Pro-Palestinian Activists To Blame in Gaza Ship Incident

Rasmussen: 49% Say Pro-Palestinian Activists To Blame in Gaza Ship Incident

Forty-nine percent (49%) of U.S. voters believe pro-Palestinian activists on the Gaza-bound aid ships raided by Israeli forces are to blame for the deaths that resulted in the high-profile incident.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 19% of voters think the Israelis are to blame. Thirty-two percent (32%) more are not sure.

5. That's terrific !!! Ten or twenty years ago 80 or 90% would have blamed anti-blockade activists.
Edited on Mon Jun-07-10 08:50 PM by Better Believe It

The fact that 51% either blame the right-wing Israeli regime or are not sure is just short of incredible.

People can and do change their minds and can figure out the truth even with all of the constant right-wing propaganda in the mass media.

19. I agree. Considering that 99.9% of the population doesn't read DU or similar
websites, it's pretty impressive that so many people saw through the mainstream media's and Israel's lies.

6. this says more about how Ras chooses the survey group than anything else
Where is the group from and how was it chosen?
Anecdotal evidence suggests a FAR different take - and Ras polls results have been pretty consistent on siding with pro-Israel views.. Perhaps it is how the questions are phrased?

I'd have figured 90% would have voted against them.

10. I would have suspected 75% from Rasmussen.
But not even a majority? The neocons cannot be happy with this result.

Kinda the way bush enjoyed such a huge bounce after 9-11.
And of course Helen.

15. Sadly, these are encouraging numbers...
As others pointed out, historically, the numbers would be much more skewed toward the no Israeli blame choice.

The Palestinians have their choice to make if they want to move things further. They can seize the moment or squander it...

16. They will squander it...
The Palestinians never fail to blow an opportunity or to make an amazingly boneheaded move at a critically important moment.

Virtually the entire world opposed Iraq's seizure of Kuwait and supported ejecting them. Guess who chose to ride the Saddam horse to defeat? Yup, the Palestinians. It never fails.

17. The PLO misjudged the international situation at that time.
They thought the Soviet Union would prevent the US from invading and that Iraq was militarily stronger than it was. There was also tremendous pressure because Iraq's policies vis-a-vis Palestinian workers in Kuwait were popular among that group while the Kuwaiti monarchy was hated.

There is actually a lot of progress in developing a positive pole for a new Palestinian leadership, neither fundamentalist nor opportunist.

18. I also seem to recall
the Palistinians cheering over the 9/11 attacks. I would suspect a large number of Americans haven't forgotten that, either.

23. Rasmussen is a GOP asset and a rightwing hack.
Sounds like one of his typical bullshit polls.
