McBullies: McDonald’s threatens to sue Oakland’s Little Mac

35 comments Share41 share E-mail Over in Oakland, first-time restaurateurs Allison Arevalo and Erin Wade have been working on opening Little Mac for the last few months (Sidenote: melted cheese-themed restaurants are apparently all the rage this summer).

But recently, the pair encountered a big, corporate-sized roadblock: McDonald’s. See, the global burger empire is threatening to sue the little unopened restaurant, claiming that Ronald McDonald owns all variations of “Mc” or “Mac.” File under: haterism.

Not wanting to even deal with the legal drama, Little Mac will not even try to topple the Golden Arch Overlords, essentially throwing out their months of branding and name recognition. As such, they are now accepting nominations for a new name.

I'm glad McCurry, McAllen, and Ronald McDonald won their cases. Mc or Mac is common in last night names so I don't think they should have ownership over it.
