BP shut the Catastrocam down
Edited on Fri Jun-04-10 07:17 PM by spotbird
It must be horrific down there. Congress pressured them to make it public, this is what happens when compliance is voluntary.

It is maddening that the company with everything to hide has complete control over our oceans.

1. Are you certain? They might well have something to hide.
It was NOT looking good down there.

2. It didn't take an engineer
to see that the gush had become much worse. Even the media was going to figure it out before long.

16. It's not that it's BP's dispersant that bothers me, if it weren't so toxic and poisonous
and it worked without harming the environment I'd say use it, whatever it takes.

So okay, I'll give you this one.

14. Declare that the Government is going to be taking over the operation
even if it's only in an oversight capacity.

1. Tell BP the camera will be on at all times and control monitored by watchdog groups.
2. Make the BP CEO stand next to the Admiral every day and answer the questions during the briefings.
3. Make BP allow outside groups into response planning sessions and have them answer to press pools daily.

These are just a few things he could do if he told BP they will stop the leak but will do so as ordered not as they please.

24. It's my understanding that we are there in an oversight capacity, right down to
having medical personnel standing right next to BP personnel at the stations where people report in if they feel ill. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how discerning Thad is, and that woman Coast Guard official almost sounds like she's employed by BP. Maybe he'll be making some changes (Obama) in that area, or maybe my perceptions are off.

There's going to be a new BP person taking over this "project" - I'd agree that's a valid requirement to have the responsible BP person be required to be at the briefings with Admiral Allen.

30. I'm not saying Obama needs to put on SCUBA gear
but the Government should be handling the containment and cleanup basically telling BP what to do and handing them a bill for it. No more of BP trying to keep the press at bay.

get down there with a shovel). Especially after seeing Rachel's show last night. And, today he went to some of the 'real' places, so maybe he'll end up doing just that. I hope so.

6. It's just sick
He is in way over his head. He takes bad advice. He has no commitment to the principles he pretended to hold during the election.

The best I can say is McCain/Palin would do no better, but that is truly damning with faint praise.

23. All the President of the United States can do
is to physically rescue the well? Wow. That's quite a job for one man. In some company executives manage those with the expertise, but they demand results.

It's disturbing that anyone believes the president must possess all skills. Who knew people thought that the origination of all criticism stemmed from that belief.

12. Does the President have authority
to structure the response to a disaster that could spread up the East Coast?

If he doesn't, then Obama is at the mercy of BP, as are we all.

42. The ROVs can drift if not clamped
I haven't paid enough attention to see if it was only the cameras on the "loose" ROVs that have shut off or if the ones that were clamped onto something also shut down.

Last night they took about a fifteen minute "break" before the Top Cap was actually put on - got it all rigged and ready to go, then every camera near the BOP shut off for that period. Then they came back on and got the thing on top of the spew plume really fast.

Have been posted. At most there have been maybe six, and usually a couple are not at the well head, but are off doing other things or on ship being serviced. Most of the time I have only seen two really doing anything worth watching at one time. Yesterday was an exception, but that is to be expected.
