Exclusive: Impossible Election Results in Arkansas Puzzle State, Local Officials

Exclusive: Impossible Election Results in Monroe County, Arkansas Puzzle State, Local Officials
1000s of votes inexplicably disappear after 'Super-ish Tuesday' election, as county plans expanded use of oft-failed, 100% unverifiable ES&S touch-screen voting systems for upcoming primary run-off…

What's going on in Monroe County, Arkansas?

We've been looking at their May 18 "Super-ish Tuesday" election night numbers on the AR Secretary of State's website (Monroe County doesn't have their own public election results website) since the night of the election, and the posted results can only be described as going from "impossible" on the day after the election, to possible but still entirely inexplicable.

At least six different election officials at both the county and state level remain unable to tell The BRAD BLOG how any of it could have happened, even though thousands of votes appear to have simply disappeared in the final certified results, and the state is set to hold its primary run-off election next Tuesday…

1. I wish everyone could have a system like my county has.

You have 2 choices. You can either vote by marking the card with a black pen and sending it through the optical scanning machine. Or you can vote electronically and get a printout/receipt of how you voted.

6. Pay Attn - That's just about the system that Monroe County already has!
Though they scan centrally (instead of at the precincts), and are planning to discontinue paper ballots all together in favor of the touch-screens, it sounds like your county uses the same general equipment.

Monroe also offers a "printout/receipt of how you voted", though neither you nor they are allowed to keep said receipt (appropriately so, as that would lead to vote buying/selling).

Your votes, like there's, are similarly tabulated electronically inside a black box running "trade secret" software, and your results are based on whatever those computers report.

I don't know what jurisdiction you're in, so don't know if any of those ballots are actually counted by human being at any time, in an attempt to check for accuracy of the computers, but essentially, sounds like your county runs the same risks that Monroe County, AR does. You just haven't noticed yet :-)

2. It's only "inexplicable" to willfully ignorant officials and eVoting cheerleaders.

3. I think a coin flip would be more accurate than ES&S

5. Unfortunately, since the beginning of time, Arkansas has been
totally incompetent at virtually every govermental task. Through in the normal crooked stuff that happens in EVERY locality and you will never figure it out.
