ACK!!! CNN has been totally mischaracterizing one of the BP video streams!

One shows the riser with oil gushing down and then up, a second shows the grappling arms of a sub holding onto a brass colored cylindrical object with oil gushing directly upward through it, and they think they are different views of the cap and the the pipe running up to the surface has been removed!

1. Earlier, Cooper was asking his guest what they were looking at

The guest said there's no way to know because "BP has gone home for the night".

I presumed he meant the office wasn't answering their calls. So - "Ack!", indeed.

2. And even before BP "went home", Anderson said they weren't keeping them

apprised in real time.

3. It's not just BP, the execs at CNN have this idea that newsish chit-chat is more profitable

than news. Cooper's team seems to occasionally put together some good pieces given the chance, but having them stand around commenting on BP webcams with no real information is inexpensive, but pointless.

4. They know how many people are watching the cams online

So I guess they figure to grab some of those eyeballs. But I found that after a while, it's chit chat like you describe.
