Here we go. Oil spill is now approaching Florida Panhandle Beaches
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_gulf_oil_spill

As the edge of the slick drifted within seven miles of Pensacola's beaches, emergency workers rushed to link the last in a miles-long chain of booms designed to fend off the oil. They were slowed by thunderstorms and wind before the weather cleared in the afternoon.

Forecasters said the oil would probably wash up by Friday, threatening a delicate network of islands, bays and white-sand beaches that are a haven for wildlife and a major tourist destination dubbed the Redneck Riviera.

I wonder how many folks will still be in favor of off shore drilling once the panhandle and, eventually, west coast beaches of Florida are destroyed? And if this thing really gets caught up into the loop current, the beaches on the atlantic side and the keys could be next. Just great. It isnt as if some of us didnt predict this 4 years ago. http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_steven_l_060629_offshore_drilling__96_.htm

What they can't hide with killer chemicals they will hide by refusing access for photography.

3. Plenty of idiots who do vote and are nowhere near a beach
I got my own, you know... :sarcasm:

And sadly many people in the Gulf who do make a living out of this, and I am not talking of executives either.

I have said it in the past, I will say it again... Muricans are very bad at connecting dots.

4. That area is as Republican red as they come
It will be interesting to see whether political attitudes will shift once those beautiful beaches are covered with tar balls.

5. Doesn't limbaugh have a beachfront home?
Seems like all of a sudden so many of these Fuck-the-Earth-God-put-Man-here-to-use-everything-up people are "getting religion" and becoming environmentalists.

Kinda late to the party, you greedy, short-sighted, selfish, free-market-fairyland assholes!
