New Huggies Commercial--Creeeeeepy!
I saw this commercial for Huggies jean diapers today. Is it often that
adult men and women drop their glasses or lose their grip on a bunch of
balloons, because they're so impressed with a toddler's diapers?

Am I the only one who gets that creepy kind of feeling while watching this
commercial? Maybe it's the mom in me, who thinks it's odd when grown men
leer at toddlers and look at them with that "come hither" look in their eyes.

:eyes:

Can we stop sexualizing children for entertainment? Please? Now?

2. Sexualizing? Really? You may want to invest in a sense of humor
Yes, that is right, all men want to fuck little babies. It is the only logical conclusion.

7. I'm more bothered that people are still using disposable diapers in this day and age.
Whether they're cloaked in denim or not.

And no, I don't find the commercial creepy, though I do find it sad in that it perpetuates this idea that everything that has to be hip and trendy and that you suck as a parent if you aren't overspending on ludicrous unnecessaries for your baby, and now it's to the point that even the shit-collectors have to be trendy.

Fucking hell.

11. Good grief.
I'm not sure I'd go as far as saying it is sexualizing the kid - but it's definitely over the top and not funny.

Even worse was the other YouTube video posted by some young mom who thinks the diaper is just so 'cool' because now her little darling won't have a visible diaper line above it's pants. Really? That's important? Will it help ensure they get into the 'right' sort of daycare or something?

Kids are NOT accessories.

23. It's also consumerizing infants
There aren't enough adult consumers for the Western world's manufactured goods because the global north through 'development' has impoverished the global south to the extent that they can't afford what they produce.

Very disgusting.

27. All advertising is exaggeration IMO
And that's what the commercial is all about, the "newness" of the product.

It is the gist of the commercial that wearing blue jeans makes one feel sexy, and strut. Which the baby obviously manages. But it's more like playing grown-up, I think. If you listen to the voice over, it's hilarious, matching up the words with what you're seeing.

The "jeans" diapers are evidently only on the market for a short while.

Yes, it's creepy! But it sure gets people's attention, doesn't it. Which is all the advertisers care about.

29. And to think, I missed this by a few years. Could have been putting my kids in
fake jeans diapers! But no, they had to grow up and be almost 6 and 5 now.

Seriously, those don't even look comfy. They make the material look stiff. And the commercial is borderline creepy.

30. Hell's Bells. That was rather creepy. Were they trying to go after the "pedophile set"?
Edited on Thu Jun-03-10 12:09 AM by political_Dem
:scared:

It was already getting a little hinky when Madison Avenue decided to appeal to Tween Girls by tossing them Justin Bieber, Hannah Montana and her ilk with pitching "grown-up" and rather salacious attire to that age-set.

Furthermore, I don't know why they think that "denim diapers" do a better job than any other brand. Can't just the old cloth or disposable diapers do?
