Once conservative friend - now a socialist
Edited on Wed Jun-02-10 04:25 PM by Dragonbreathp9d
My best friend recently got married and they are having their first child. His wife and I used to butt heads politically, however, things have changed.

"I have totally changed my views, I LOVE socialism."

That almost made my jaw drop.

They are ages 22 and 21, and therefore are using medicaid to help with the medical costs of pregnancy.

"They cover everything... we wouldnt be able to afford anything if it weren't for medicaid."

4. I think back to all of my old conservative high school friends that I still keep in touch with
Some are still conservative, others have mellowed a bit, and some have outright moved leftward. At least that's what I infer when I see them joining Facebook pages calling for gay marriage to be allowed, or Barack Obama's fan page.

5. And as soon as the emergency has passed
She'll run right back into her cocoon, and gripe about all the free-loaders she has to support with her tax dollars. Following in the well-worn footsteps of Rush Limbaugh and Not-Joe-Not-a-Plumber. I've seen the phenomenon any number of times.

6. Thats like saying "I like free shit"
But socialism is so much more than just receiving social services when in need. Lets see if your friend sticks with this attitude later on.

11. Let's hope he keeps that attitude, and says that the ideals of a single payer system are

reasonable, and work in so many nations, and that America would be better off if we had that system.

But I bet he will find a way of defending and apologizing for profit making health care insurance, somehow.

Just wait until they both have good paying jobs.. if they ever get there.

And even if they don't, they will complain that the people of color are keeping the good jobs away from them.

I have seen this before, sorry to say.

E.G. Joe the plumber.
