"Gaza on My Mind"
I was flipping through the June 7 issue of Newsweek and came across a photo essay of Gaza, by photographer Paolo Pettegrin.

From the introductory paragraph:

"Photographer Paolo Pettegrin has 'been to Gaza many times,' he says, 'and in December I focused on both the destruction of the physical landscape and on the survivors of Israel's military operations there in the winter of 2008-2009. The kinds of wounds I saw would be terrible anywhere, but the conditions in Gaza are such that these sorts of injuries mean the victims' lives are over in many ways. What's more, there's an increasing sense of isolation from the rest of the world. It's intangible, but there seems to be an understanding -- a resignation even -- that conditions are not going to improve."

The following photgraphs are stark and poignant. They underscore the outrageousness of Israel's actions this week. The gallery is on Newsweek's Web site. Check it out, if you want. Here's the link.
