Are the oil cos trying to buy our silence with lower gas prices?
When this Gulf crisis began the price of a gallon of gas was above $2.80 and rising. But suddenly the price started dropping, and now it's under $2.50 and still dropping. (This may be local to Dallas TX but I think not.)

And it's not just BP- it's every station in the city.

I can tell ya right now, if that's what it is, it ain't gonna work.

4. But regular gas has plummeted in price
I traveled across Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Iowa three weeks back the prices across Indiana and Illinois was $3.06 avg. Just got back from same exact trip, prices in the same places was $2.49 avg.

I did note that diesel had not dropped.

5. I haven't watched diesel prices, so I can't comment on that.
They have to line their nests via SOMEONE'S wallet...

3. So, at a time when oil prices are high, you think the oil companies

would purposely increase production in order to cause the price of gas to go down? You think it's in the best interest of gas producers' stockholders to purposely reduce the price of gas?

7. A reasonable assumption....
...when Bush/Cheney were in office and Big Oil was immune to criticism gas was $4.39 here. Imagine what an uproar there would be if that were the case now.

Instead, when they've got a PR nightmare on their hands, oil is the cheapest in some time.

Remember, the same wealthy families control all the oil companies, so the 'competition' argument is specious.
