Rep. Tom Cole on oil spill: ‘Acts of God are acts of God.’
Edited on Wed Jun-02-10 09:58 AM by Mari333
Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK), an ardent supporter of the oil industry and adherent of the “drill here, drill now” chant, appeared on KTOK radio yesterday to discuss BP’s oil disaster in the Gulf. Like Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX), who dismissed the oil spill catastrophe as an “act of God,” Cole sought to downplay dangers inherently associated with offshore drilling. Cole said more could have been done to deal with the spill, but the oil spill itself was more or less unpredictable because “acts of God are acts of God”:

COLE: We probably should have forced BP to mobilize more in the way of vessels. There’s still a lot that can be done. But again, acts of God are acts of God. And you know, FEMA is not, you know, can not cope with everything.

5. God didn't take short cuts in safety procedures. God didn't build the defective
parts and install them.

Really, all of Oklahoma's Representatives and Senators are corrupt idiots. They all work for the oil companies, so none of them are going to be sympathetic to the environment or the people or wildlife that's harmed.

Assholes, every last one of them.

Creating an open hole on the bottom of the sea with no way to fix it? That takes man's efforts.

God is a delusion. Inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality is insanity. The man is religiously insane.

9. Another example of the religious right denying personal responsibility
God is always responsible when thing go wrong. Unless it happens to someone else and then is it their fault.
This cult needs to be called out for their lack of personal responsibility. The key factor in their acceptance of "god" is a get out of jail card.

fossil fuel and pretty much all of sea or avian life that comes in to contact with it, dies.

Maybe the Devil was working through Dick Cheney when he gave the fossil fuel industry carte blanche in his secret energy meeting with them.

Maybe the Devil was working through BP, Transocean or Halliburton if they took short cuts or disregarded safety precautions for the sake of greed; which happens to be one those deadly sins.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_deadly_sins

The Seven Deadly Sins, also known as the Capital Vices or Cardinal Sins, is a classification of the most objectionable vices that has been used since early Christian times to educate and instruct followers concerning (immoral) fallen humanity's tendency to sin. The final version of the list consists of wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. The Catholic Church divided sin into two principal categories: "venial sins", which are relatively minor and could be forgiven through any sacramentals or sacraments of the church, and the more severe "capital" or mortal sins. Mortal sins are believed to destroy the life of grace and create the threat of eternal damnation unless either absolved through the sacrament of Penance or forgiven through perfect contrition on the part of the penitent.

Maybe the Devil is working through Congressman Cole; trying to shove the blame off on God? If that's the case, I imagine God is pissed.

Thanks for the thread, Mari.
