Doctor: We’ll see effects of COREXIT ‘for years to come, similar to Agent Orange in the 1960’s

Dr. Seth Forman will appear on MSNBC Wednesday morning to discuss the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The Tampa dermatologist says the chemicals used in the clean up could have lasting effects. Today’s interview will air at 11:30 a.m. during the cable network’s MSNBC Live show.

“BP has already pumped more than 800,000 gallons of this toxin into the Gulf of Mexico,” says the Tampa dermatologist. “While it is good the EPA is forcing BP to reduce the amount of COREXIT used, the damage is already done. We will see the effects of this for years to come, similar to ‘agent orange’ in the 1960’s.”

Dr. Forman is Board Certified in both Dermatology and Dermapathologist. He has researched and written several articles on dermatological issues, including skin cancer and eczema. He’s also the author of two chapters in the leading reference medical textbook, Comprehensive Dermatological Drug Therapy.

4. if the only questions being asked are "how can we make this go away (for us) quickly, then,
the only answers will be the ones we're getting. more chemicals. more delay. more toxicity.

5. He may be board-certified,
but he needs some remedial chemistry. Unless it was his intention to compare apples and Agent Oranges.

9. I have some surviving VN vets relatives that are sick from Agent Orange
He is saying this stuff is just as bad and we will see long term effects, cancers, diabetes when there was no family history, lung ailments in folks that never smoked one uncle has had them all.

I guess you forgot about 911 rescuers that are sick from the crap using in those buildings. We had known asbestoses was a problem from the 30s on, but lobby efforts kept W R Grace open for decades after they should have been seized and made to pay, in stead they did not pay they kept digging out asbestos, vermiculite and perlite claiming its safe to be around.

Dangerous stuff may be an apple or an orange, it doesn't matter what you call it..its still poison..i guess you forgot your sarcasm smiley.

13. For you and the hillbilly
Petroleum is mixture of hydrocarbons. Agent Orange is a mixture of two similar chlorinated aromatic compounds, with well studied chemical, physical, and toxicological properties. Asbestos is a mineral primarily based on magnesium silicate, although it has many physical forms and covers a variety of substituted cations.

The first step in dealing with a problem scientifically is to describe what it is you are dealing with. I'm would hope the dermatologist in the article tries to find out what causes a skin rash, rather then just slapping a lot of Benadryl cream on it. However, if you want to treat all skin rashes and all chemicals the same, have at it.

They continue to make this claim decades later.
