For drilling anywhere within or off the coasts of the US, the result being that we could allegedly reduce our dependence on imported oil from other countries.

Which was BS to begin with, since all oil produced is temporarily the property of the global corporate capitalist oil companies, not the US government, and much of it is ultimately sold to the highest bidder in the global marketplace.

OPEC would likely respond to a "glut" of oil, influenced by increased production in the US by cutting production themselves.

The US has only so many refineries anyway, so even an increase of say 10% in production would not result in a "home discount" for US consumers by Big Oil...lol!!
