"Pentagon Tells 35,000: Prepare to Deploy" IN AUGUST??? I thought we were going to withdraw troops
starting in SEPTEMBER or October? Why would they be sending 35,000 MORE troops to Iraq in AUGUST? I also saw this report on C-SPAN and they announced an AUGUST date for deployment....this article says "this fall." What's this going to do to the repuke's "we're waiting until September to see what happens with Petraeus' plan" group?

Pentagon Tells 35,000: Prepare to Deploy
By LOLITA C. BALDOR, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has notified more than 35,000 Army soldiers to be prepared to deploy to Iraq beginning this fall, a move that would allow commanders to maintain the ongoing buildup of troops through the end of the year if needed.

Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said Tuesday the deployment orders, which have been signed by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, do not mean that the military has made a decision to keep the increased level of 20 brigades in Iraq through December. A brigade is roughly 3,500 soldiers.

Instead, he said the decision gives the Pentagon the "capability" to carry the buildup to the end of the year. The replacement forces, Whitman said, would give commanders in Iraq the flexibility they need to complete the mission there.

The announcement, said Whitman, has "nothing to do" with a decision to extend the troop buildup. He said the Pentagon "has been very clear that a decision about the duration of the surge will depend on conditions on the ground."<snip>

2. Eventually, they will simply run out of soldiers.
That may be the only thing that stops these idiots.

10. Yes, when all the troops are DEAD, there will be no one to deploy.
And it seems * is dead set on killing every last one of them.

Then, because there's no one left to protect US, he'll declare martial law and put us all in those nice facilities Halliburton has been building.

IMPEACH THE BASTARD, ALREADY!!!

Don't worry my republican Senator says he's running out of patience
and by golly if he (trent lott) doesn't see some results come September (or October) by gosh he's gonna do something about it. He's gonna shake his fist at the white house and say by gosh he's just about run out of patience.

7. That can be true if you become what you hate.
Or if you use the same actions and tactics which they do and rationalize your decisions because you are good and they are evil. Being aware of that is insightful because they would probably not even consider that notion.

8. The fact is that they will be there for the next 50 years in ever increasing
numbers. I would guess that there will 250,000+ by the end of bush's term. The next person will be afraid to do anything about it for fear of an Islamic takeover & loss of control of the oil. This was the scheme all along, get us in there so we could never leave.

17. That's the mission accomplished. We are stuck there
just waiting for another shoe to drop in an part of the world that's got more shoes than Emelda Marcos's closet. Even our dems say we'll pull the troops out of Baghdad, over the horizon, ready to jump back in IF something should call for it. What are the chances that we can tippy toe out through Kuwait without an emergency? And this doesn't even count Afghanistan, the quagmire-in-waiting. We're never leaving the ME. We will exhaust our nation for the neocons goals. Our founding fathers would be astounded.

14. Yes, FY 08 starts on October 1st. The Congress will simply approve the FY 08 budget
and then fight the "supplemental" spending over and over like they have been doing as a seperate issue.

15. Escalation by any other name...
face it folks, we ain't getting out a single day before 1/20/09. just the facts.

Unless the dems in congress grow a spine and impeach the prick*, we are in Iraq to stay for a very very very long time.

we have built a massive embassy that can be seen from space, we have at least 4 permanent military bases, the oil companies are parceling out the oil field, and halliburton has set up shop in dubai. we are there to stay.

This is going to get a lot worse before even the remotest whiff of getting better occurs, if ever.
