Feeling a lot of love for DUers

I joined DU, once again, hesitantly. It was the mods' actions that convinced me to stick around. They were impressive.

I may be known to some for my LOL's. But I appreciate humor--as do the admins--and I do not apologize for recognizing fellow members whose humor and cleverness impresses me. I certainly will not apologize for welcoming a respite from all we are facing today.

And, strikingly, whenever someone posts about a personal tragedy, DUers jump in with their sympathies and condolences. DU is, mostly, an empathetic place.

First and foremost, it's a place for news and discussion, which is valuable in itself.

So I celebrate all my fellow members who contribute so much here. And, as much as I hate to suck up to ANYBODY, I have to hand it to the admins who founded this thing called, "DU". And to the mods who work so hard to keep us honest.

But I've encountered quite a few in the threads. And, while there are always exceptions, I've found them to be quite a special bunch of people.

I too, stayed because of the kindness of a mod after someone was repeatedly nasty to me in the beginning. They are awesome and so are the large majority of DUers!

As a newbie, someone attacked me for being so new and PRESUMING to know about DUers. The mods not only locked the OP, on which I had alerted, they deleted the offending post (which I did not alert on). The offender was someone who is known and respected here. And I've seen him post good stuff. So I don't hold a grudge--I've never unrec'd him, and I've rec'd his good posts. I don't know how he views me, but it's bygones as far as I'm concerned.

I think we all appreciate the work ther mods do. But when you're a newbie, and the mods stand up for you, that means a helluva lot.

I'm glad you stayed, too, onestepforward. Every place has SOME faults, but, overall, this is a pretty goddamn good place to be.

Where are you? I KNOW there are some who would call me a Pollyanna, who are not so happy with the mods/admins, who would take issue with my saccharine appraisal. I've run into a few on the threads who might REALLY lay into me here.

In the absence of ANY differing viewpoints, I guess I should just count my blessings....
