I think Deep Horizon will break BP's ability to pay, and that

the Gulf states and/or the US will end up owning BP's assets. That's probably a good beginning. The failure of Deep Horizon is compelling argument against the defunding of NASA in reliance on the privatization of space, and in favor of manned capability as we witness the limitations of robotic solutions. Maybe all undersea resource exploitation should be given to NOAA...or even NASA?

1. BP is still making lots and lots and lots of money thru their oil investments

in other places around the world.

Their first quarter profits this year were $93,000,000 per day!!!

3. No financial anaylst says that BP will have a problem paying for this.

Look at the analyst comments on Yahoo finance and other financial websites. The cost will be spread out over 20 years or more.

4. I think the actual damage will far exceed the value of BP and they will avoid most of it

while still taking a record hit.
