Ronnie James Dio ~ Memorial 5/30/10

I promised an update, but haven't been to a computer since the memorial.

I'm pleased to report there were more anti-WBC signs than there were WBC anti-Dio signs... and the wackos were pretty much ignored! The worst thing you can do to attention whores like that is ignore them.

The memorial was awesome... it's all over the YouTubes already. I'm easy to see... I opted for the white cotton blouse instead of the usual black of doom, so I stuck out like a sore thumb;) Hey, it was hot!



It was the longest, most incredible memorial I've ever seen. To see tears well in the eyes of these heavy metal heroes who are metal Gods themselves, was the stuff legends are made of. Dio's family went all out for the fans, just as Dio had done all his metal life. Consideration, kindness, and generosity are so fucking metal!

Pins and programs went to the attendees... there were large screens outside the hall and in the parking lot. The music, tears, and memories flowed... horns were thrown, and chants of "DIO! DIO! DIO!" rocked Forest Lawn like it's never been rocked before.

Dio's son was amazing... his wife said just a few words through her pain... they did this all for us, the fans, because Dio loved us... yes, I do believe he loved us all.

And they were kept by the entrance:) There were more anti-Phelps Phreaks than there were Phelps Phreaks (I like it... I will use it! Good job! ) And the good guys' signs made a lot more sense. We drove past them, and forgot them. From what I could see most everyone just ignored them... Wendy Dio asked that there be no trouble, so being the kind metalheads we are, we just cheered the anti-anti group, resisted the urge to Phlip off the Phreaks, and went on in.

Dio was an amazing singer & performer. He was a little guy with such a big voice. He gave us so many great years, great songs. Ronnie will be missed.
