ABC's Stephanopoulos Reports Erroneously on Rightwing Criminal O'Keefe's Latest Video Scam
'Good Morning America' host repeats, nearly verbatim, NYTimes' inaccurate, discredited report in 'exclusive' interview today...

As convicted federal criminal and rightwing dirty-trickster James O'Keefe repeated over and again this morning on ABC's Good Morning America, "this isn't about me." (Full video at end of article.)

To that end, neither is The BRAD BLOG's coverage of the scam artists' phony ACORN videos, or his attempted wiretap plot in a U.S. Senator's office, or his latest startling exposé for which he's released video today (also posted at end of article) purporting to show that he was allowed a full hour for his lunch break during one of two training days as a U.S. Census worker in April, and even allowed to leave an hour or two early when that day's training completed ahead of schedule. (Shocking, I know!)

Our coverage isn't about him. Never has been. We expect partisan scam artists like him, and his employer, rightwing con-man Andrew Breitbart, to get away with whatever deceptive, partisan nonsense they can. This has always been about the utter failure of the corporate mainstream media in irresponsibly giving them a platform to publicize their propaganda, without even bothering to check any of the facts for accuracy first.

This morning, George Stephanopoulos did exactly that in the introduction to his "exclusive" interview with O'Keefe and Breitbart (who was on hand to enjoy some of O'Keefe's spotlight as well, for some reason) by repeating an inaccurate report from the New York Times nearly verbatim, despite the "paper of record" having corrected at least part of it over two months ago, and despite their Public Editor (ombudsman) having been broadly ridiculed for an embarrassing attempt to defend it...

From my journal, in response to the recent sentencing, or lack of it, I should say.


After his original fifteen minutes of infamous familiarity was exposed way late in the game, (too late, as it turns out for ACORN) thanks to an accommodating media that gave the story credibility where none was warranted and without ever independently checking facts alluded to. For me as a DUer, the whole situation leaves me conflicted. The BradBlog has membership standing here, and has for more than five years. Mr Friedman called out one publication in particular and engaged in pretty public dialog which I don't believe said publication has ever acknowledged 'significant' inappropriate coverage of the matter. I had hoped to see other members of this community be less of a conduit for the venue in support of one of their own, and something of a marquis/high profile member to boot, but it is not to be. People here post from it all day every day and I shy from participation once I see it as the source or the meat of a post. Most, if not all stories are available from other sites, so I don't see the harm in going the extra step but also have no right to ask others to express their support for Mr. Friedman in the manner I have adopted.



As for what might be next this back door boondoggler

This pimply pup has a willful disregard for the very concept of genuine, as he's well taken to his training as leader of the not so Breitbot brats. I'd venture a guess that he and whatever ilk are willing to associate with him are up to some other political stingy escapade which will end in folly.

And lastly, if the application and enforcement of the rule of law doesn't tip back to level soon, anybody will think they can do anything and things could get might ugly from there. We're supposed to be smarter than this, not that I'm claiming any expertise in that regard.

Sorry Mr. Friedman, for me as a DUer, this is a lot about you. Mostly cuz I think you rock, but that's a talk we've already had.

12. Uh, excuse me

When you take the US Census training you turn in a time sheet that says when you arrived (actually when you left your home), when you left for lunch, when you returned from lunch, when you left (actually estimated time to arrive back home). Therefore what the hell is the problem you are only getting paid for the time you are in training, not your time at lunch or the time you were not training. There is a certain amount of training to complete everyday. I don't know if the instructor is allowed to go on or not but if you got done early so be it. Whatever video this idiot came up with shows nothing but typical training.
