States Pile On Against Westboro Phelps clan
Almost all of the states have signed onto an amicus brief to the Supreme Court, asking that military funerals be protected from the likes of the Phelps clan.

Forty-eight states and the District of Columbia have submitted a brief to the Supreme Court in support of a father who sued anti-gay protesters over their demonstration at the 2006 funeral of his son, a Marine killed in Iraq. Only Virginia and Maine declined to sign the brief by the Kansas attorney general. (...)

From the WaPo link:
(...) The Supreme Court has agreed to consider whether the protesters' message is protected by the First Amendment.

1. I can see a unanimous decision
If protesting at funerals is free speech, so is going to a wedding with a bullhorn speaking in favor of gay marriage.

I hope gay activists would not ratchet up their advocacy to that level, much too tacky.

2. Good. The 1st amendment protects expressions of opinion, not verbal assault. K&R

3. Isn't it amazing it's come to this?
How odious do you have to be to have all 50 states filing suit against you? We can't even get Congress to vote against BP.
