IMO, there are two kinds of people.

Those who think deeply.

And those who don't.

1. No, there are 10 kinds of people.
Those that understand binary digits, and those that don't. :hi:

2. There are two kinds of people..
Those who divide everyone else into two kinds of people and those who don't.

In fact there are 10 kinds of people, those who understand binary and those who don't.

3. Two kinds: Authoritarian & Non-Authoritarian
Any of these categorical 'two kinds' groupings are oversimplifications, but I really do hold to this view - that most people break down into one or the other re this crucial (to how a rep democracy operates substantively) subject: most are conditioned to always be in obedient deference to authority, and a minor % of people who realize structures of authority are often unjustifiable, immoral and illegitimate.

17. Some people want to be given
the things in their life they find important and they expect everybody else to understand, agree and help support their belief.

20. Sure
Those who believe things should be given, are usually the ones who are obediant to authority in hopes of receiving more and the ones who wish to be left alone often look at government action to take from them as unjustified, immoral and illegitimate.

21. I see what you're getting at, although could cite contrary examples
Many whose lives are tailored to, and/or those who, despite being born poor, still aspire to the professional classes (as is promoted throughout the dominant US institutions) often toe the line in strict servitude (at school, work & play) b/c they too want, or have been conditioned to want, the rewards that ladder climbing/authoritarian hierarchical structures offer/promise

... yet if asked, many would likely deny they want to be 'given' anything (status, promotion, gadgets & things) since the essence of that type of $ucce$$ is the illusory bullshit of Pulling One's Self Up By The Bootstraps, even though that's usually not the case, and has much more to do with how the dominant ideologies of a culture are sold from cradle to grave (media saturated culture = 24/7 directives/direction) always careful to define the system and its merits incorrectly/inaccurately...Orwellian, like, if you will. And many of those people then naturally don't cast themselves as followers (authoritarian) as adherence to that Belief system entails a great deal of self deception.

24. I see you're point
but I am speaking more of what people want than I am of the material things they desire. It doesn't matter if rich or poor, left or right, these people all want some sort of entity to give them what they want and have no problem with that entity walking over others who disagree with them. They gladly ignore others as long as the entity GIVES them the outcome they desire.
You GIVE them what they want and they follow without question.

19. Wasn't that around the time the jerk-offs began using the heady "existential" term...
Edited on Tue Jun-01-10 01:02 PM by Echo In Light
... alluding to the phony PNAC war$? i.e. 'we're fighting an "existential" war'

Neocons don't strike me as social malcontented book worms who are well read as pertains to the various thinkers of existentialism lol

Guess maybe the handlers thought the dummy might appear a tad brighter if they threw out the term, hoping it may stick

Jugglers want show you what they do. They're usually happy to instruct. Magicians want to maintain the mystery. They leave you to think.

"The human race divides politically
into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort."
