Speier wants Craigslist to scrap sex section

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A California congresswoman is calling on the website Craigslist to get rid of its adult services section, which critics say is used to advertise sex with underage girls.

Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Hillsborough, is also asking the House Judiciary Committee to hold a hearing on how websites such as Craigslist are being used to "facilitate criminal activity."

Speier sent a letter Thursday to Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster urging the San Francisco company to shut down the adult services section.

In a letter to Speier, Buckmaster says he's willing to discuss the issue with her, but says shutting down portions of Craigslist was not the answer.
