Poll: Americans say GOP can better handle threats to U.S.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2010-05-27-poll_N.htm

WASHINGTON — Americans rate terrorism and the federal debt as the biggest threats to the future well-being of the USA, and they rate Republicans as better able to deal with both.
A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken Monday and Tuesday profiles the rockier terrain Democrats face compared with their clear advantage on issues in 2008 and 2006 — elections in which they scored major gains and won back control of the White House and Congress.

On today's agenda, Republicans have a 13-percentage-point advantage on handling terrorism, the No. 1 issue on voters' minds, and a 7-point edge on managing government red ink.

The Democratic Party's standing has sunk: 43% say they have a favorable view of the party, down from 55% in November 2008 and 57% in November 2006.

However, views of the Republican Party haven't significantly risen. The GOP is viewed favorably by 36%, 2 points higher than in November 2008 and 1 point higher than in November 2006.

Forty percent of those surveyed say the Republican Party is "too conservative;" 49% say the Democratic Party is "too liberal."

Now, this one pisses me off. Americans proving they have only short-term memory and that 'fear' still is the best way to control the masses!

1. Terrorism is the # 1 issue? Nice poll there.
Everyone I talk to mentions the economy, still.

2. We are a stupid nation.
I don't know exactly how we got that way, though I have some idea what is keeping us so. Anyone who thinks that this Dem. party is too liberal is a fucking moron.

3. Umm... it was the fucking Republicans who CREATED both terrorism AND the federal debt
Specifically, the Bush Crime Family, which has been the core of every Republican administration since 1952.

Of course any poll that says the current "Democratic" party is "too liberal" can't be taken seriously in the first place, because the whole poll is a false premise.

5. If the GOP is so strong on the federal debt/spending how is it that their presidents have
significantly increased the debt and deficits? the last president to balance the budget was a democrat. If the GOP is so good on terrorism how is it that the biggest terrorist disaster in US happened on their watch? I just don't get how stupid many americans are.

8. I call bullshit.
No way that terrorism is the #1 issue on Americans' minds.

However, it probably IS the #1 issue with those who think the Republicans handle it better.

What was it, a poll of the numbers in Rove's rolodex?

10. I submit fewer than 10% can define "liberal."
Most people think it means "in favor of big government/high taxes."
