As long as Sestak leaves the White House twisting in the wind, should he expect anything. . .
. . .more than perfunctory support.

I want to see Sestak win, but as long as Sestak floats the accusation without facts I can't blame the White House if they don't do much for him in November.

1. Sestak made that statement months ago. I believe him. It's not his problem other than
to clarify who he talked with at the WH. Or do you think he should LIE to protect someone within this Administration?

6. So right or wrong, Sestak threw the White House under the bus and he won. . .
. . .now that he has won and the White House has taken a hit, should he expect the White House to pull out all stops for him?

16. He should expect the WH to get a Democrat elected come Nov. and not a Republican.
That seems pretty simple to me and that probably means the WH doing what they can to assist him in his efforts.

23. Actually, the WH threw him under the bus when it supported
Specter.

I'm not sure how much help he's expecting but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't expecting all that much to begin with. What do you want him to do grovel? The President backed the other guy remember?

2. I think he convinced himself that he heard something he WANTED to hear. How the hell
does the WH respond without gambling on that senate seat?

3. Even if they did ask him not to run in the primary by offering another job
I don't see it as anything most other presidents haven't done and don't see it as anything illegal. It's much ado about nothing.

4. now know why he would have been offered the job
from wiki:

A member of the United States Navy for over 30 years, Sestak is a former three-star Vice Admiral and the highest-ranking former military officer currently serving in Congress.<3>

During his career in the Navy, he led a series of operational commands, including commanding the USS George Washington aircraft carrier battle group in Afghanistan and Iraq. He served as Director for Defense Policy on the National Security Council under President Bill Clinton and, following the September 11 attacks, was selected to serve as the first Director of "Deep Blue," the Navy's anti-terrorism unit.

Though he achieved the rank of Vice-Admiral (three stars), Sestak left the Navy before he had been a Vice Admiral long enough to be able to retire at that rank. He retired at the lower rank of a two star Rear Admiral (upper half).<4>

18. Yes, with those kind of qualifications....
it's pretty hard to imagine why he would have been offered that job :sarcasm: .

5. Well, I reckon he did okay without the White House at least once.
What do you want him to do, fall on his sword to protect the Administration?

7. Not saying that, but he can't be too upset if they don't pull out all stops for him
Right?

8. Well, in light of what the WH's support of Specter did for him, I don't think...
a lack of support from the WH is such a terrible thing during these times.

19. Toomey's running commercials tying Sestak to "Obama's Agenda"
I think a Specter endorsement is good for Setak. It will appeal to the sane Republicans and conservative indies, right?

20. No endorsements! He's his own man. Who cares what other professional politicians think?
Sestak will do best if left alone so he can deliver his message free and clear.

13. That's what I was thinking
He's clearly strategizing to say, "I'm not Obama's rubber stamp". It's difficult to find a way to distance yourself from your own party when that's what you want to do, and Sestak figured out how to do just that.

I think they're on the same side now. WH would prefer to do the talking and Sestak is going along.

22. Sestak got this far with NO suppoer from the PA Democratic Party AT ALL,
and running against the "official" Democrat, Arlen Specter, who got ALL the Democratic suppoet as well as the WH backing till the last few days. He has done great so far, and a lot of his supporters - myself included-support him no matter what the WH thinks.

They have been a large group of assholes so far anyway....
