I'm thinking we need to just say screw it and go McCarthy on their asses. The DOJ is totally obstructing everything in sight, the GSA is being used as campaign central, yadda, yadda...

It, the republic party, is a fucking corrupt organization, the kind RICO statutes were developed to prosecute. Since Justice won't break out of the just us mode, the only alternative I see is a tribunal.

1. My favorite worst insult now
I call the person a Republican. Rarely use it, but it sure fits in some extreme cases.

5. no, not ever. Ever!!
I have always loathed this party. Even when I was a little kid and my parents told me they were voting republican, I said I wasn't a Republican.

7. No
I knew I was a Democrat when I watched Mario Cuomo's keynote address to the 1984 Democratic Convention. I never liked Reagan and distrusted Republicans in general, but by then it was articulated why. Better yet, I knew what I was for, and not just against.

In 1988 I voted in a primary (Super Tuesday) for the first time and proudly registered as a Democrat. :kick: I voted at my old junior high school, which was also Pat Robertson's voting location. He was my neighbor - the CBN complex being just a mile from our working-class subdivision.

The Republicans have been downhill since Teddy Roosevelt gave them the heave-ho in 1912. In my lifetime it was brought further shame and dishonor through Nixon, the rise of the Religious Right, and of course, their patron saint, Ronald Reagan. The utter depths they now penetrate almost make the Nixon years look quaint and innocent.

9. Registered Republican

for a brief time so i could vote for Tom McCall (Oregon governor) in the primary. McCall was a not the typical
Republican IMO. Always a Democrat before that; always a Democrat after.

The party had a few good years and then after Lincoln was assassinated it was kinda downhill from there.

18. Republicans used to be democrats and vice versa.
Both parties changed radically back in the early 60's. I remember when the Democrats were the southern bigots and the Republicans were the civilized party of Lincoln. Today's rabid right-wing is the off-shoot of the southern segregationist religious nut of the old days. You who are fairly young might disagree with me on this one, but as a senior citizen...I assure you this is correct. My dad was a southern Baptist bigot who was an avowed Democrat. My mother was a Republican who saw the light when Reagan opened his mouth. She bcame a bigger liberal than I in her old age. What goes round comes round, I'm afraid. Today's right-winger is merely yesterday's Democrat bigot in sheep's clothing. Sad, but true.
