CT Poll: Blumenthal 56, McMahon 31
http://www.quinnipiac.edu/x1296.xml?ReleaseID=1459

Blumenthal has a net favorable of +32, while McMahon has a net unfavorable of -7.

* 76 - 15 percent that Blumenthal has the right kind of experience to be a U.S. Senator;
* 52 - 29 percent that McMahon does not have the experience;
* 60 - 27 percent that he is honest and trustworthy;
* 45 - 24 percent, with 31 percent undecided, that McMahon is honest and trustworthy;
* 69 - 21 percent that Blumenthal cares about their needs and problems;
* 45 - 33 percent, with 22 percent undecided, that she cares;
* 73 - 19 percent that he has strong leadership qualities;
* 54 - 23 percent, with 24 percent undecided that McMahon has strong leadership.

And the Kicker: 61% of Republicans think approve of Blumenthal as Attorney General.

1. Hartford Courant report on poll results:
Q Poll: Blumenthal trumps McMahon by 25 points; voters shrug off Vietnam matter

By Daniela Altimari on May 27, 2010 6:15 AM

This morning's Q poll shows just how hard it will be for Republicans to win a U.S. Senate seat in Connecticut. Despite potentially damaging revelations that Democrat Richard Blumenthal misrepresented his military record -- and despite an early and pervasive ad campaign launched by Republican Linda McMahon -- state voters are sticking with Blumenthal.

The attorney general beats McMahon by 25 percentage points, according to the Quinnipiac University poll. That's a drop from the 33 point lead that Blumenthal held over the former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO in the March Q poll, but still a significant lead.

Even more heartening for Blumenthal: Questions about his military record, first raised last week by a New York Times report, don't appear to have hurt him. Sixty one percent of the voters say it doesn't matter to them that Blumenthal misrepresented his service by saying on several occasions that he served in the Vietnam War when in fact he remained stateside.

"It looks like Connecticut voters forgive Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, or feel that there is nothing to forgive in the Vietnam service flap,'' Q Poll director Doug Schwartz said in press release accompanying the poll's release. "While he has taken a hit with voters, his poll numbers were so high to begin with that he still maintains a commanding lead over Linda McMahon.''

2. Linda fucking McMahon...
Edited on Thu May-27-10 07:04 AM by BolivarianHero
Really? Republicans are stupid enough to think that a woman whose family consists entirely of a bunch of overgrown cartoon characters can win in CONNECTICUT?

Wait...

I've been reminded that these are the same fucktards who keep electing Lieberman.

Blumenthal is fucked.

6. Lieberman was not always what he has become. He was state AG before
Blumenthal and, while always slightly to the right of lefties like me and my crowd, was not the badass he is now. Plus, he was always prochoice.

Please don't lump all the folks who were misguided in with your "fucktards." When I walked my neighborhood for Ned Lamont in 06 I talked with several of his fellow congregants at Joe's shull. They were decent people and were extremely polite and nice when I rang their doorbells and asked if I could leave material about Lamont. They knew him and liked him and they didn't strike me as proto republicans.

A LOT of nutmeggers have come around to agreeing with us on Joe, but in 06 they weren't convinced of it. Remember, that was before he campaigned for John McCain! You have to understand how Joe evolved into what he is today...

16. Absolutely
He had a big advantage in just the benefit of the doubt. Even if he only represented the devil you know vs. the devil you don't know, that swayed enough voters. And of course, the Republicans didn't run anyone (serious).

I seriously wonder about his mental health. He seems more and more deranged as the years go by. But for a long time, Lieberman was a pretty popular guy in CT.

19. Thus the (serious)
No one was interested in actually voting for the guy. Lieberman was the GOP candidate in everything but name. The "official" candidate was nothing but a placeholder.

probably awoke him even more.

36. No. He has said "You can outspend me but you can't outwork me."
He'll be OK. He's pretty hardworking. He's used to being everywhere around the state. His visibility in CT is astonishing. I remember one local newscaster comment when there was yet another Blumenthal issue: tire safety. The commenter said "He's all over the problems on the LI Sound and now he's checking your tires!" I got a huge laugh out of that one. When I first moved to CT I hadn't been in town for a week when I started seeing him EVERYWHERE...

15. Not at all
Blumenthal will be our senator.

In some respects, McMahon's TV campaign suffers from a bit of what Lamont's did last time. Expensively done, (though her make-up is AWFUL) and totally without substance. I really don't care if a select few of her friends and neighbors think she's a real person. Or that she can put on her wrestling face and claim to be "tough" about the economy. What exactly does that mean?

Blumenthal is a known quantity. And a respected one, in either party.

32. The reason they chose her was entirely financial. She is financing her own campaign.
The puke party in CT cannot be in the greatest shape financially. I can't believe their fundraising is going THAT well, even with all the pukes in Greenwich and New Canaan.

And Simmons might be a little too sane for them...

34. It's all she brings to the party
And yes, fundraising has got to be tough right now. It's tough outside of politics, that I know!

But hey, so long as she doesn't somehow pull this off - and I'd be shocked if she did - we're better off this way. Her instability only makes Blumenthal look steadier.

It shows you how appallingly ignorant these talking heads can be. I am particularly shocked at Bill Press. I used to like him. But he's gone soft and lost his edge. Too much Washington insiderism...
