Wow - It sure appears to me there are a lot of us that
have a personal "interest" in this war.

SO who are the people that don't?? Who are they??

What the hell is their interest??

"Inquiring minds" want to know!!

Bastards.

Directly connected. You know why??

Cause we are the only ones stupid enough to go along with it.

Well - we ain't stupid no more!!!

7. I don't accept that,
Same -to who? Not to me -I said it was ok to join up. I kind of trusted the army.

Boy was I wrong. I think some of us were.

This is not political anymore.

I never thought there could be such a group of F-ups as this - never did.

4. I know people who WERE there...
But currently I'm just watching from the outside, mourning.
I swear there was a post here the other day and the Vets were honoring one of their brothers and I lost it. I cry so much for people I've never met. I can only imagine if I knew them.

6. Where do you live -=cause within a few weeks I can turn you
into one of us.

They are all our kids. They just are.

They don't have to be your kid - go to a basic grad class - cause there are a few things that will hit you.

Main thing is - dress these kids all the same way - give them all the same hair cuts - and you couldn't tell one from the other anyway.

As long as you remember they are kids - then they are yours.

Really,

Joe

Just because I don't know them, doesn't mean I don't cry for them every day.

8. I don't know anyone there right now, Joe, but it still feels like
someone is trying to kill us. Maybe that's my over-reactive, Latina thing, but it's just the truth.

Who are these people who DON'T have any stake in this occupation? Where are their effen' minds?

9. You ever been to a grad class - at any base at any time?
I had a hell of a time picking one from the other. That is no accident.

When I say they are all of our kids - - they are.

They really are.

11. I have to admit
I do not know anyone, nor relative or friend of anyone I know, who is over there, has been, or might soon be (except, of course, for those in this forum).

But it is not necessary to have a "personal connection" to take it personally. I feel like every one of them is my niece, or nephew, or grandchild (a stretch there, but almost could be).

I bawled like a baby standing outside the gate at Twentynine Palms, reading all the "welcome home" signs and wondering if, in fact, they all made it home. Wondered if they waited until they knew they were enroute before daring to put up the sign. And how soon they would be going back. And what about the families who were saying goodbye to the ones going to replace them - what sort of emotions did THEY have seeing those signs?

I knew none of them, and yet I felt I knew all of them.

18. Damn straight. This is NEVER about someone else's kid.
That's our kid. Period.

And not only kids lately. Anyone this terrible leadership can shanghai into uniform.

I won't forget this. We won't forget this. And the people who put this into motion will pay.

This the most cold blooded act I've ever witnessed. They will pay for it. I am not a vengeful person but this needs to be and will be set right again.

17. My "personal" interest...
is because of the effect war (WWII and Vietnam) has had on my life. War is war..the gift that keeps on giving... so many who return don't do life well..and their kids and their family suffer right along with them. The dysfunction and false reality made me who I am today.

24. Welcome to the club.
I grew up - a lot of us did - from the remnants of the 2nd world war - you know, those people that lived just long enough to blow their brains out later.

I went to so many suicide funerals.

My greatest fear - for these kids - is what happens in ten or so years from now.

Joe

26. blow-back...
big time. You would think that by now, the VA would have a handle on exactly what to expect, and how to treat soldiers returning from a war zone. What's worse, is that this time they keep sending them back for more. I just can't get my head around such deliberate human depravity.

28. What's a "personal interest"?
Oh, maybe you don't have a relative of cannon-fodder age currently in country. Maybe it's the guy-next-door's kid, or the one down the block. Or maybe it's the high school quarterback/center fielder/right guard that scored the winning touchdown/run/three pointer you saw while watching your kid's big game.

But since you don't have any skin in the game, maybe your idea of a "personal interest" is more financial.

If so, then you got a "personal interest", 'cause this war, aside from the horrendous killing going on, is going to come back and bite you in the ass. More specifically; the wallet.

So in my book, ever American Citizen was got a "personal interest" in this damn war.

No excuses.
