--for years. Chemicals, pesticides, drugs, etc, that are considered to have too many side effects for the populations of industrialized countries to tolerate are sold to poor countries. I guess this is another marker of our progress toward Third World status.

What is more, the main dispersants applied so far, from a product line called Corexit, had their approval rescinded in Britain a decade ago because laboratory tests found them harmful to sea life that inhabits rocky shores, like limpets, said Mark Kirby, a scientific adviser to the British government on the testing, use and approval of oil spill treatment options.

3. Britain is not doing anything to the Gulf
BP is a publicly owned private company. The UK government sold it's remaining 1.8% stake donkeys years ago. 39% of shares are US owned and 41% UK owned - mainly by pension funds.

I'm not sure that you're wholly right about all versions of Corexit being barred from use in Europe- just some of the earlier versions I think.

I agree with you whole heartedly on the Third World bit.

:hi:

6. Yep. We're paying attention now because it's happening to us.
Easy to ignore when it's happening to someone else on the other side of the world.

That's our shame. Add that to the reasons why corporations shouldn't be considered people. They don't have emotions or feelings. They should be ashamed of their actions and the damage done. They're not.
