What Have They Done To The Earth?
What have they done to our fair sister?
Ravaged and plundered and ripped her and bit her
Stuck her with knives in the side of the dawn
And tied her with fences and dragged her down

29. Monster-steppenwolf
And though the past has it's share of injustice
Kind was the spirit in many a way
But it's protectors and friends have been sleeping
Now it's a monster and will not obey

2. This is so incredibly painful.
But we need to look at it. We need to see where greed has taken us. We need to see where greed has taken all the innocent life forms on this planet. :hide:

4. In some ways I value non human life more and am not embarrassed to admit it.
I think its only our arrogance which makes us believe otherwise. We seem to be at war with our own planet and can't even respect eachother. Very sad when you stop and think about it.

16. You are not alone ... I share your sentiments and I'm certain others do also.
What we're doing to the environment and its non-human inhabitants is absolutely criminal. What idiots like Terrah ("Drill, Baby, Drill") Failin' and her kind fail to realize is that we are ultimately setting the stage for our own extinction.

Does anyone really believe that, if this planet's environment becomes polluted to the point where it is incapable of sustaining a viable human population, we can just bail out and migrate to another planet?

IMHO, there is a certain segment of the human population (i.e. the willfully ignorant) that we are better off without.

3. Earth Song
Has been in the cd player for a minute now. I'm asking myself If the ruling class secretly teleports to some pristine planet during business hours because this one appears to be clocking out.

6. I think the ruling class is delusional among a lot of other things.
I think when they go back to their country clubs, penthouse suites and mansions they think what happens "over there" will always stay over there. Obviously greed does cause blindness as well as stupidity.

9. They have to be delusional
We've watched some of them suffer from alzheimers, skin cancer, asthma, diabetes, heart disease and autism along with their children but some alarm has to awaken their concious as to how much poison the air, ground, and water can take before baby rich bucks develops a snout with a curly tail in the womb. You have to scratch your head and wonder what do they have against seafood?

He spoke up for the planet via his art. He tried to tell people. That was to be one of the central themes of his last concert before he was murdered.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYHguBEXkac

"I respect the secrets and magic of nature. That’s why it makes me so angry when I see these things that are happening in the world: that every second I hear the size of a football field is torn down in the Amazon. That kind of stuff really bothers me. That’s why I write these kinds of songs you know, to get some sense of awareness and awakening and hope to people.

I love the planet. I love trees – I have this thing for trees and the color and changing of leaves…I LOVE it! I respect those kind of things. I really feel that nature is trying to compensate for man’s mismanagement of the planet. The planet is sick – like a fever! If we don’t fix it now its at the point of no return. This is our last chance to fix this problem that we have or its like a runaway train.

The time has come, “This is It”. People are always saying: “Oh they- they’ll take care of it.” “The government will d-they’ll” They who? It starts with us. US. Or else it’ll never be done.“ -Michael Jackson

Oh well.... Pfft. Too late now, IMO. Really, this crap should have been dealt with 20- 50 years ago. At least.

11. It's bad to us but not to the earth. She will easily patch it up but in her own time.
To the earth it's all natural. We mess up our own bed and don't clean up after ourselves but once we stop, and we will, we will have no choice, it will all rebalance itself. The trouble is we think in terms of years, the earth thinks in terms of millenia.

26. I was just thinking of that song last night.
I always think about that part of the song when there's an environmental disaster.

There's a particularly brilliant version of that song that was recorded live at the Aquarius Theater in L. A. where they really draw out parts of the song and make the crowd go nuts with anticipation. Jim has the practically begging for the response in the "I want the world and I want - now!" section.

Because of the world's thirst for oil and a fucking company's negligence, the Gulf is as good as dead. And perhaps the oceans along with it. And then humanity.
