Miami construction sign hacked to read 'No Latinos,' 'No Tacos'
Website gives tutorial on how to hack into roadside message signs

<snip>

"It's graffiti for the digital age and, apparently, a new phenomenon with pranksters who tamper with roadside electronic signs around the country and reprogram them with their own messages.

South Florida was the latest target sometime overnight Monday when somebody hacked into a portable message sign on the northbound Palmetto Expressway in Miami-Dade County.

The sign should've warned drivers that Northwest 25th Street was closed to traffic. Instead, the sign flashed "No Latinos. No Tacos."

<snip>

"A website earlier this year published step-by-step directions on how to change roadside signs – along with disclaimers not to do so. The site contains numerous pictures of signs that have been hacked around the country and as of Tuesday afternoon, it already included a picture of the Palmetto message sign."

1. Is this anti-Latino or pro-Latino?
Are they trying to warn Arizona that without Latinos there would be no tacos?

:shrug:

2. Yeah, that's a tough one...
Because I've seen signs held by Hispanic/Latino protesters that essentially say the same thing...

3. I remember that!
During the big May Day events in 2006 when many Hispanic and Latino folks (citizens and non-citizens alike) took off work and participated in marches and protests and such (immigration, amnesty, etc.), there were a lot of signs to that effect.
