It's a critical time for animal advocates like you to make your voice heard to support political candidates who are standing up for animal protection. The Humane Society Legislative Fund is working hard to elect humane candidates and drum out those who are hostile to animals, like former Rep. Richard Pombo, who represented California’s 11th District from 1993-2006.

Throughout his seven terms in Congress, Rep. Pombo had one of the worst and most extreme records of any lawmaker on animal protection issues. He voted against legislation to combat dogfighting and cockfighting, supported the inhumane slaughter of horses and downed cows, voted to use our tax dollars to fund the luxury mink coat industry and the trophy hunting of African elephants, and even supported the killing of whales and dolphins in the oceans.

But Richard Pombo is now fighting to make his way back into Congress and running for a seat in another congressional district (CA-19) in the Republican primary on June 8.
