I don't belief SC's 'badboy' blogger's weird admission of an affair with Palin-approved candidate

Yes, I know. It's just another example of the tabloidization of American politics and just by posting about it, I've fallen for it. So sue me.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, blogger Will Folks posted several days ago that he had an affair with State Rep. Nikki Haley, who is running as an outsider/conservative Christian populist/teabagger type in the Republican primary for governor. She is supported by Jenny Sanford and Sarah Palin and was supposedly surging in the last few weeks. Palin suspects foul play. Much as I loath her, I think she's probably right.

If there was an affair, it's no one's business but the parties in question and their families. That's why this stinks of plain old-fashioned rat-fucking. Why Republicans are doing it to themselves, I really don't know. Maybe it has something to do with Jenny Sanford's endorsement of the accused adulteress. It stinks of Mark Sanford trying to snuff out a candidate his wife supports by having an operative (a physically repulsive operative, by the way) claiming he and Haley had an affair and keeping the story prominent on the blog. All the while Folks (who has a criminal record of domestic violence, for what it's worth--and who worked on a Haley campaign, it should also be noted) is claiming to support Haley for governor.

Why would the guy lie? And why are you buying into a Repuke's argument to try and save this woman? and her denial, "I have been faithful to my husband?" The affair started before she was married perhaps, so she can say that and not be honest, and still not be lying. Amazing how many people here are repeating RNC talking points and repeating them as gospel truth.

I'm just saying that if you really support a former lover as a candidate, you don't broadcast during a hotly contested primary that you had an affair with her. Maybe they did have an affair, but he's not acting like someone who really wants her to be governor.

10. This story has been making the rounds in SC for a long time, and a lot of people believe it..

Until recently, Folks had a reputation as a ladies man. I'm not sure what his secret is because I don't find him attractive. But he's made the rounds of South Carolina's female news personalities and political consultants. He married a few years ago, and has a baby. It appears he's become a family man.

From what I've heard, Folks knew this stuff was gonna come out, so he decided to post the tale first, so he could grab the hits for his blog.

12. Folks only came forward with it because a media source said they were going

to publish the rumors about the affair unless Folks would come forward admitting to it, then they would let him have the first word.

Now they are going to release the details in a couple of weeks, based on what I've heard.
