Question: Since BP is a British company
Has the Obama administration summoned the British ambassador to the White House for a good dressing down?

1. BP isn't British.
It is transnational. Which means, not accountable to anyone but stockholders.

Just sayin'.

2. No, we have to keep the British in the Coalition of the Bought in Afghanistan, etc.
Wouldn't do to harm the "special relationship", particularly since it is becoming practically the only friend we have, other than Israel.

3. Looks as though the British are getting cold feet (no money)
in Afghanistan as well.

4. The Germans are also complaining that they are 3 times over budget in Afghanistan
And them may decide that it is more important to bail out the Eurozone than to continue to sink further into the Afghanistan quagmire.

5. It wasn't the UK gov't that did this
so dressing down the UK ambassador wouldn't be appropriate. Nor would it sop up one drop of oil in the Gulf of Mexico.

The very best thing that could happen is for the US to maintain good relations with the UK government, and if BP's assets over here are insufficient to pay the damages, perhaps we might be able to pursue BP assets over in the UK.
