Attend BP Protest in Houston on May 24, 2010
When I ran as the Lt Governor candidate in Texas on the Reform Party ticket I made a suit out of fake money so I could wear it while I gave a speech. The speech and my money suit went over very well and drew the attention of a lot of photographers.

The Reform Party wanted strict campaign finance laws, but conservatives were against them. I met Granny D, who just passed away a couple of months ago. She spoke at the Reform Party inaugural convention and was given a standing ovation. What a beautiful person she was.

I'm going to be wearing that same money suit to represent BPs unbridled greed. I'm sure it will draw a lot of attention. I'll post any photographs taken at the event here if anyone is interested.

Please attend this rally if you will be anywhere near Houston on May 24th!!!

CODEPINK Brings Public Outrage to BP in Houston
Exposes the Naked Truth Behind "Drill Baby Drill"

WHERE: BP Headquarters 501 Westlake Park Blvd., Houston

WHEN: May 24, 2010 at 11:30am

Naked, dripping with oil and dragging nets full of dead fish, CODEPINK
activists will expose the atrocities of BP's latest and greatest
drilling disaster on the Gulf Coast.

“We will lay bare the naked truth of ‘drill baby drill’,” says CODEPINK
cofounder and environmentalist Jodie Evans. “What is more indecent--our
bodies or the horrific effects of BP’s naked greed and our nation's
obsession with oil?”

The protesters will mourn the deaths of the 11 workers and devastation
of wildlife and livelihoods all along the Gulf Coast. They will call
for BP to be held accountable, for an end to offshore drilling and for
a total restructuring of our energy towards renewable sources.

“At the BP headquarters we will put our bodies on the line to hold BP
accountable for the rape and plunder of our planet,” says Diane Wilson,
a fourth generation fisherwoman from the Gulf. “We call for stripping
BP of its corporate charter and seizing its assets to pay the victims,
clean up the Gulf and try to restore the devastated wildlife.”

“We’ll be exposing BP for what it is—a criminal company that ignored
crucial safety issues, cut corners, and spent millions lobbying
Congress to fight regulations,” says CODEPINK cofounder Medea Benjamin.
“BP has a sordid history of recklessly pursuing profits at the expense
of workers’ lives and the environment, and it’s got to stop.”

1. I love the money suit! Let Ed and Rachel know about the protest - they may
give you some coverage.

I'm far, far away so can't attend, but please report back -- with pics! :hi:

2. Hi Gateley! If you see a guy being thrown in a police paddywagon that'll be me!
I'll report back with pictures. I'm a photographer so I'll be taking lots of pictures. And when people see me in my money suit I'm sure they will take shots of me too. I shouldn't say 'shots' I guess. BP's army might decide they don't like getting mocked.

BTW, I write to Ed, Rachel and Keith all the time...

8. Ed, Rachel and Keith have become my pen pals (although I've yet to receive
a personal response :7). I know they'll bring up the important subjects that most others don't.

Looking forward to the report and really really good pictures! :hi:
