The verdict is in: Laura Silsby found guilty of attempting to kidnap those
Haitian children.

Prosecutors asked for a six-month prison term for US missionary Laura Silsby, who was arrested trying to leave Haiti with 33 children following the devastating January earthquake that hit the country.

A verdict in the case is expected within a few days, judicial officials said.

Silsby and her fellow Baptist missionaries were arrested on January 29 as they tried to take the children into the neighboring Dominican Republic by bus without the necessary documentation.

The members of the New Life Children's Refuge missionary group denied wrongdoing, saying they were only trying to help orphans in the wake of Haiti's devastating January 12 earthquake that killed more than 250,000 people.

we were right from day one. She's very lucky.

Being convicted of human trafficking is not going to look good on her resume.

3. Her story made no sense from day one
Once again M$Greedia got it wrong and defended a criminal.
I trust there will be more investigations of the church group in Idaho that defended the child traffickers.

A big thank you to all the vigilant people in Haiti and DR who prevented this wicked act.

Maybe they were getting a cut of the loot.

Rally organizer Randy Jackson acknowledged Saturday that some have called Silsby and the nine other Idaho missionaries “crazy” for actions that landed them in a Haitian jail in January, accused of child trafficking.

“Maybe they were. But what they did was a crazy act of compassion and love,” said Jackson to a crowd of about 100 people.

Attendee Sue Pearce of Nampa was staving off Saturday’s chill wrapped in a bright afghan. She’s following Silsby’s story closely, even though most of the missionaries — including “best friend” Charisa Coulter — have returned to the U.S., their charges dropped.

Only Silsby, in a legal limbo, remains in Haiti.

“Laura is a mother. She has three children. She needs to come home, and I can’t wait to go meet her at the airport when she does,” Pearce said. She was among the crowd that welcomed Coulter home in March.

Some mother - one who kidnaps other people's children with a view to selling them. :puke:

I think they just wantyed to adopt them out to their paying followers.

Mind that my knowledge of the shy in all of this is quite spotty.
