New Orleans gets hit some more

http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index2.php

Torrential rains made for an extremely hectic morning for a lot of people in New Orleans. The rain fell fast and furious, quickly filling up canals. One canal near Xavier University in Gert Town was almost to capacity. Rains made for treacherous driving uptown. "The waters are bypassing the storm drains and coming into our house too much," said Carl Kempf as he showed ABC 26 phone video he shot near his home by Joseph and Claiborne. This is the second time since December his bottom floor rooms flooded in strong rains. Kempf hasn't even finished repairs from the first flood. "We watched the water come up while it was pouring down rain, and recede and then stop raining and then water came back up, then we flooded," Kempf said. Other homes and buildings also flooded in the downpour. Willie Greer who works at nearby Beverly Katz Exterior Designs was busy cleaning up water for hours at the business. "It's awful.yup, awful," Greer said. He had to use a pump first, because the water was so high. And like other neighbors, he says the water just wasn't going down from the street. "Everything is backing up, water backing up from the street pushing everything into the basement," Greer said. It wasn't just buildings that received a lot of damage from high waters. We found a car that had water come all the way up over the seat. The car's owner isn't even in town to deal with the water damage. But there is a lot of cleanup and insurance companies will be flooded with calls. The Sewerage and Water Board says Sunday morning's high water was just another case of too much rain falling too quickly.
