Confirmed: Obama authorizes assassination of U.S. citizen
Edited on Sun May-16-10 06:43 PM by howaboutme
Source: Salon Glen Greenwald

Instead, in Barack Obama's America, the way guilt is determined for American citizens -- and a death penalty imposed -- is that the President, like the King he thinks he is, secretly decrees someone's guilt as a Terrorist. He then dispatches his aides to run to America's newspapers -- cowardly hiding behind the shield of anonymity which they're granted -- to proclaim that the Guilty One shall be killed on sight because the Leader has decreed him to be a Terrorist. It is simply asserted that Awlaki has converted from a cleric who expresses anti-American views and advocates attacks on American military targets (advocacy which happens to be Constitutionally protected) to Actual Terrorist "involved in plots."

The headline stands on its own. Either we have total adherence to standards of justice and behavior or we have nothing, and as a democracy that sets a world standard, politics and Party means nothing. Give us honesty or nothing as we are tired of hypocrisy. As much as I like Obama, I have no compunction expressing an opinion that the Presidency must be reigned in.

9. Yeah, it's such OLD news. Who cares. Gimme some FRESH news!
It really isn't relevant after a month and a half, is it? Besides, the poster only has 270 posts, so therefore it is flamebait, right?

You may have been here since 2001, but you ain't got a clue as to what is important, do you?

13. No worries.
It's not the first time that a moved thread has caused confusion. Nor the last.

5. Why
Why does our Constitutional Law Professor of a President continue to do the Un-american things GWB and Cheney did throughout their term?

He should know how wrong this is more than about 99.99% of our population, fer chrissakes!

8. Correct - Sorry
YEP....It was totally misplaced and I accept being kicked in the ass. But the substance of the article which is about sidestepping our Constitution, just as Bush Cheney did, I find very questionable. The slope becomes very slippery as exceptions are made and I no longer trust our SCOTUS to protect our Constitution.
