Poll question: Will Gore run?
Leaving aside for the moment whether you would like to see Al Gore seek the presidency again, do you think he will try and obtain the Dem nomination in 2008?

1. I sure hope he does. I hope he sees us wallowing in hopeless
desperation and decides that he'll come to our rescue. As a country, as a party, and an American.

19. I'd like to see him declare
but to be honest, I don't see it happening.

2. As much as I love Gore,,, IMHO it is too late for him to toss his
hat into the ring... Before the first debate OK, now I have moved on...

28. Have you seen the ratings from the first debate?
No one is paying any attention other than the chattering class and political junkies like ourselves. The media may have fired the starting gun, but the voters haven't gotten to the track yet, much less placed their bets.

3. I don't think its too early at all. I hope he realizes how much
we need him and decides to fore-go his own happiness for the sake of this country.

4. I would expect him to step down from his position at Apple first.

edited to add :: I really hope he takes the plunge. I will vote for whoever gets nominated(D). But, I would be exited to vote for Gore. None of the other candidates do anything for me. I won't send them money, I won't knock on doors for them, I will simply put a mark next to their name on election day.

I think (hope) the guy is honourable enough to step down if he declares.

5. If he does, he has my immediate support.
Just don't see any of the others rise to Al Gore's level, although I could support any of them over the GOP nominee (if there's an election).

7. Gore-bots need to get a life.
Quit putting the hope of your future in futility and pressure the candidates that are running to comply with the will of the people.

10. I think a Gore-Clinton-Obama race would be GREAT for our party!
Three amazing Democrats, all completely Presidential, all advocating a return of Democracy to America. I'd be proud to see the three of them leading our Party towards the '08 Presidential race.

11. he is the best of men
Wishful thinking perhaps, but I believe he will run because ultimately he will feel duty to country and lifted up by all the love and encouragement he is getting.

13. The reality is that there is no point in Gore running.
He may be the best candidate, but any of our top tier candidates can beat the Republican choice as those candidates wed themselves to Bush and Iraq. It's a pipe dream that Gore will suddenly jump in and run. He certainly would find a place in the Cabinet of a Democratic administration. (To note: I am undecided at this time.)

15. I wonder if there isn't some kind of politician code of honor
where you don't take people by surprise. It seems unfair to jump in after the rest have been chugging along leading the way. (Though it would be fine with me if he ran).

on how the primaries go and if someone is emerging as a clear leader that could take the POTUS.

24. I really hope that he does!
I bet that he will announce his candidacy (if he does) at his Live Earth concert in New Jersey.

If Gore were running, he'd be stupid to announce early, he'd be swift-boated easily.

27. I think he's interested in the job and will assess his chances against
the minefield of the media and the candidate field of the party in mid-September of this year.

If there appears to be an opening, and the call for his candidacy remains fairly strong, I believe he'll enter the race in New Hampshire, where he has strong support.

At the same time, Gore does not owe anyone more public service; he's already given very generously and exceeded expectations generally and on the environment particularly. He could just as plausibly and nobly serve out his life as an honored sage elder, and leave electoral politics to other men and women.
